Sensory
Integration
At Petite Therapy, Sensory Integration Therapy is a play-based and evidence-informed approach developed by Dr A. Jean Ayres. It helps children who may find sensations such as touch, movement, sound, sight, or body awareness overwhelming or confusing. These difficulties can affect everyday participation, learning, attention, and emotional well-being.
Vicky is CLASI-trained in Modules 1–6, having completed advanced postgraduate training in Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI®). This internationally recognised training equips therapists to support children and young people who experience challenges processing and responding to sensory information.
During therapy, children engage in fun, purposeful activities using specialist equipment such as swings, climbing frames, tunnels, and weighted resources. Each session is tailored to provide the “just-right” level of sensory challenge within a safe, supportive environment.
Our focus is on shared goals that are developed collaboratively with parents, school staff, and other professionals. Together, we work towards helping each child to:
- feel calmer and more confident in daily routines;
- develop the sensory foundations needed for social interaction; and
- build the skills to participate meaningfully at home, in school, and in their community.
Through ongoing collaboration and communication, strategies are carried over across settings so that progress in therapy is consistently supported in real-life environments.
